BSE '70, MA '81

Life Sketch
by Naomi R. Arit

It was on October 29, 1930, when Araceli Alonzo was born in Real, Calamba, Laguna, Philippines.  Her mother was Alejandra Atigui Alcala and her father was Mamerto Alonzo.

On May 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Nestor Reynoso Arit.  The wedding was held at the Philippine Union College Jackson-Sevrens Chapel in Baesa, Caloocan, Rizal.  It was officiated by Pastor R. H. Wentland.

Soon then after, they were appointed to connect and work in the Seventh-day Adventist denominational institutions and organizations--in Mindanao, in the Visayas, and in Luzon.   During the thirty-five years of her husband's active service,  Araceli was always with him, giving him her support and companionship.

She became a widow when her husband, who was then president of the North Philippine Union Mission of SDA, was killed in a tragic, vehicular accident in 1987, in Santiago, Isabela.

Their marriage was blessed with four children, namely:  Annabelle A. Arit, Nestor A. Arit, Jr., Nely Joy Arit-Aba, Norizcel Arit-Regoso, and four grandchildren, namely:  Jasmine O. Arit, Michael Arit Aba, David Arit Regoso, and Nathan Arit Regoso.

Araceli's maternal siblings are/were, namely:  Oscar Alcala Baricanosa, Merle Alcala Baricanosa-Platel, Gil Alcala Baricanosa (deceased), and Dean Alcala Barianosa (deceased).  Araceli's paternal half siblings are/were, namely:  Carol Alonzo (deceased), Gil Alonzo, Rumer Alonzo (deceased), Arman Alonzo, and Gerry Alonzo.

Araceli's educational background: --
     Elementary: - Calamba Elementary School and Manila Central Church SDA
School (she graduated as a valedictorian)
     High School: - Philippine Union College, Baesa. Caloocan, Rizal
     College: - Philippine Union College, Baesa, Caloocan,Rizal
                         BS - Education-Pilipino, 1970
                          MA  - Education, 1981

Service Record:  - PUC Secondary Level, Baesa Campus
                            PUC Secondary Level, Silang Campus

After the demise of her husband, she retired from active service after having worked for 18 years in the SDA institution.  She then spent some of her time helping and supporting her children and grandchildren until she could no longer travel abroad.

So then, the Lord, in His mercy and love, allowed Araceli Alonzo Arit to rest temporarily on January 18, 2017, while at the Adventist Medical Center, Manila.

Now, she is sleeping peacefully, awaiting that glorious day of Jesus' soon return, when she will join together with the saints of all ages, in that glad resurrection morning.  It was her ardent hope that all her many loved ones, and all her brothers and sisters in the faith, will meet her before the throne of God in heaven, and live together forever in the earth made-new.  May that blessed day come soon.

FAR EASTERN DIVISION OUTLOOK, VOLUME FORTY-FOUR APRIL, 1958 NUMBER FOUR
"MY HOME IS THERE"

Where loving hearts shall never ache,
Where tender ties shall never break,
Where toilsome burdens none shall bear,
My home is there, my home is there.
[Our home is there, Up there waiting for us!]
Refrain:
Beyond my tears, beyond my fears,
Beyond the night, beyond my sight;
Beyond earth's gloom, Beyond the tomb,
My home is there, my home is there.

Where cherished hopes shall be fulfilled,
Where all the noise of strife is stilled,
Where banished is all anxious care,
My home is there, my home is there.

Where love shall sing its sweetest song,
Where peace shall dwell thro' ages long;
Where roses bloom in gardens fair,
My home is there, my home is there.

Where those I'ved loved and lost awhile
Shall greet me with a happy smile;
Where saints their spotless robes shall wear,
My home is there, My home is there.
