Lucy and Miguelito Fernando
I have known Tessie from the time she entered the clinical division of the B.S. Medical Technology program.  As a student, she was very bright, scholarly and diligent.  She was in my hematology and histopath classes.

To all who knew her, it was no surprise when she was put in charge of the program when Mrs Hedrick returned permanently to the United.States of America.   In the meantime, my husband and I were in the U.S. furthering our education.  Shortly after my husband and I accepted the invitation of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists to return to the Philippines and join the workforce at the Manila Sanitarium and Hospital, Tessie and I were reunited.  Interestingly enough, this time around, Tessie and I were no longer student and teacher, respectively, but faculty colleagues in the Medical Technology program. Meanwhile, my husband, Dr Miguelito Fernando, headed the OB-GYN department.  It became his joy and honor to attend the delivery of Tessie’s daughter, Crister, and son, Arvin!

Tessie was a trusted friend and loyal colleague.  We kept in touch through the years.  We visited her family at Andrews University in Michigan while my son contemplated the possibility of studying there.  Whenever possible, she visited us in California and we saw each other during alumni conventions.

News of her passing reached me like a sudden jolt.  I didn’t know she was sick   My husband and I will surely miss her.  We shall see her again at the resurrection morning, which will be soon.  I’m glad we have this hope.  Sleep well, my dear friend.  I will see you again.  Good night!

I have known Tessie since early sixties when we because roommates at the Manila Sanitarium and Hospital graduate dormitory.  We clicked instantly because we both possessed the same virtue:  "frugality".  We also shared the same ambition:  to help our siblings.

I could describe Tessie in three words:  intelligent, kind, and godly.  Her students love and admire her because of her dedication in teaching to serve the Lord.

She used to say to me:  "You always leave me!"  Early on, I went to Singapore.  Then to the United States of America.  But she stayed in the Philippines because of her dedication to serve first her own country.

During my last two visits before her passing, she called me:  "My BFF1"  Best Friend Forever!.  It really touched my heart.  I will surely miss her.  Thank God we have faith we shall see her again in that bright morning.  See you in the morning, my BFF!

Blessings of a Mother

Dr Amador Gensolin: August 16, 1923 - June 28, 2016

Life Sketch
by Dr Delmer M. Gensolin

AMADOR GIMOTEA GENSOLIN, was born March 12, 1923 at Himamaylan, Negros Occidental. Youngest of the 5 children of Juan and Leonor Gensolin. His preSchool and Elementary years were spent at Aguisan Primary School and West Visayan Academy Elementary School. He continued and completed his high school education at West Visayan AcademyIn 1938, at age 15, he was baptized at WVA and joined the church as a Seventh-day Adventist.

Soon after finishing high school, World War 2 started. He spent his time with his family hiding from place to place from the Japanese. When WW2 ended, his sister suggested to him to pursue his education in Manila to take up Dentistry. That was when he was sent to Philippine Union College for his pre-Dentistry course. While he studied full time, he also worked part time as a student to pay for some of his school expenses. Among his responsibilities was as a caretaker of the generator that supplied power for the campus. It was during his stay at PUC that he met and courted one of the campus beauties - Leonore N. Enriquez

Having completed the pre-dental course at PUC that was required to enter Dental school, he was accepted at the College of Oral and Dental Surgery (C.O.D.S.). He graduated Doctor of Dental Medicine or DMD on April 8, 1951. Shortly, on May 5, 1952, he married his college sweetheart: Leonore N. Enriquez Gensolin. MD: married!

Instead of returning to Negros Occidental where a job was already waiting for him as dentist, he opted to stay with his new bride and continue his services for Philippine Union College, starting as part time dentist from 1952-1955. He became a full time dentist at the PUC Health Service from 1955 until he retired in 1993.

Besides being a dentist for the entire college community, he also served as supervisor for the PUC Security Dept. in 1964. He was appointed PUC Health Service director in 1973 and continued to serve in that capacity until he officially retired. He and his wife jointly served as faculty sponsors for the Overseas Students Association since 1970 till early 1990s. He along with his wife were very active in fundraising for the completion of the construction of the Philippine International Church, as well as other small churches like Hilltop SDA church and Muzon SDA church among others.

They had 2 children, Don Rodney(deceased) and Lillian Anne. A daughter-in-law, Lenie Rolle (deceased) and 2 grandchildren: Don Gunner and Leonard Amador.

His outlook in life was happy and positive. Simple and oftentimes seemingly quiet, he loved to joke a lot especially with his family and friends. He was a loyal friend to peers. A loving, faithful, loyal husband to Leonore, he was well loved by his children, relatives and friends. He lived a full life, faithfully serving the Lord until the very end.
