Why is it important for the NPUC and AUP board of trustees to honor the rights of donors to designate their gifts for the intended purpose of keeping our dream of a College of Medicine alive?
From a faith perspective, a grantee-donor relationship is more than a contract; the two parties bind themselves in an unwritten covenant. Often overlooked is also the fact that a collaborative relationship exists between donor and grantee.

Rounding our figure to ten percent (10%) of the estimated US$1.9 million price of the finished structure, the space assigned to the projected College of Medicine should cost about US$190k. Fact # 5 - Donations received from alumni as well as non-alumni sources in response to specific appeals by the Advancement Office and Office of the President on behalf of the College of Medicine building suggest that funds raised have reached more than the US$190k needed, way more than may be required by the Technical Committee on Medical Education (TCME) to provide sufficient space for the medicine program. |

The sum of PhP95,798,975.31 has so far been expended resulting in an unfinished Alumni Hall which is PhP15.8 mil above a previous estimated cost of PhP80 mil.
Questions arise: How much more may be needed to complete the Alumni Hall? And, should funding a multipurpose Alumni Hall for general use be the AUP administration's top priority when compliance with the CHED/TCME requirements for a permit to open our medicine program still remains to be fulfilled?

1. Guaranteeing the rights of donors are respected is a great means of building trust. It's the ethical thing to do.
2. When donors agree to part with their charitable gifts this is done in good faith and a direct response to fundraising appeals about some specified recipient need. Donors expect the information they receive will all be factual and accurate.

Why should the PUC/AUP AWESNA send an appeal to the NPUC leadership and the AUP Board of Trustees to ensure that funds designated for the AUP COM are restricted and used solely for the intended purpose?
