A Fulfilled Vision: AUP College of Medicine Alumni Hall

Prez report Aug 2015
Php 114,151,905.30
4074.11 sq.m.
Php28,018.85 per sq.m.
FDG accelerated the pace by changing the original CONCRETE structure to STEEL structure above as-built CONCRETE foundations & columns.I consider this as a complete waste as follows....Rebars were purchased for the entire project per plans, plan changes, new permits and an OVER DESIGNED foundation and columns ALREADY CAST prior to plan changes. It was a heavier concrete structure then, therefore a heavier foundation (steel has a lighter dead weight compared to concrete).- Dune River

Plan A =  8,933 sq.m. Cost est Php150mil
Php16, 791.67 per sq.m.

Plan B = 1532 sq.m., Cost est Php70mil
Php45,691.90 per sq.m.

Cost to donors @US$1,000 per sq.m.

"One of the requirements that stood out is the choice of base hospital... should be accessible within the medical school area. In the eyes of the committee [Technical Panel on Medical Education], Adventist Medical Center - Manila was not qualified to be the base hospital because it is not located in the same geographical area as AUP."

AUP College of Medicine Update
Summer 2014 (May 20, 2014)

"Presently, the lower ground floor designated for the Medical Laboratory Science is still unfinished... Instead of the planned parking in the basement, the area might be used for classrooms." AUPCOM Updates, 22 August 2014
"The Alumni hall which I am sure you already saw is a two story building, but with a lower ground level and a basement. Half of the basement is the completed COM gross anatomy lab which will be named after a donor. the lower ground level which is not yet done is for the medtech." - Max Cadalig, 25 Nov 2014
AUPCOM Updates, 22 August 2014

Max Cadalig:  ... a photo of our Alumni Hall taken from the eastern side with 3 floors. At the back of the parked car is the basement where the Dr. Alfonso and Loida Miguel Gross Laboratory and 2 classrooms are. The basement is about half of the building length. For your inquiry, the level of the parked car is the lower ground floor and it is the one occupied or home of the Medical Laboratory science but is not included in our fund raising appeal because the University will take care of it. The two floors [ground and second floors] above the lower ground floor and the gross [anatomy] lab belong to the College of Medicine. Right now, some of the rooms at the COM however are still being used temporarily by other departments to maximize its use.

Max Cadalig:  From this side of the building, you can see the basement, the lower ground floor for MedTech which is already done, lower [sic] ground floor, and the 2nd floor. The basement is different from the lower ground floor. AUP is grateful that CLSI [Clinical Laboratory Scientists International] is sponsoring the Biochem Micro Para Room room of the College of Medicine. AUP promised to shoulder the expenses for the Medtech area which it fulfilled.
