A Fulfilled Vision: AUP College of Medicine Alumni Hall

http://filadnet.blogspot.com/2011/08/proposed-aup-college-of-medicine.html

August 2011:  The ground floor of the building will house all classrooms, faculty offices, and the resource learning center for both the COM and MT department.  All laboratory rooms and a student lounge for the MT and COM will be located in the second floor.  There will be four classrooms that can be used by other science courses in the basement.

Estimated Room Cost in US$ per Square Meter

Plan C [B1 + B2] = 4733 square meters

"... their main requirement is for the Southern Asia Pacific Divison and the [North Philippine] Union to match their donation which was finally complied with."  [SSD US$98,000.00; NPUC...]

"We presume that the major deficiency is the building and laboratory since the other major requirements which are curriculum, faculty, and base hospital are met."

March 2014:  ... the lower ground floor will be home for the Medical Laboratory Science Department and part of the basement will house the Computer and IT departments.

August 2014

August 2014:  ''the lower ground floor designated for the Medical Laboratory Science is still unfinished.... Instead of the planned parking in the basement, the area might be used for classrooms...."

Aug 22, 2014: The name of the building will not be change or transferred even if the MD program moves to another location.

Aug 22, 2014: From the beginning of the campaign in 2011, the shared use of the building was already disclosed.... It was also disclosed that this building is not the permanent home of the College of Medicine. All these were already stated in the 2011 handout.

Max Cadalig:  ... a photo of our Alumni Hall taken from the eastern side with 3 floors. At the back of the parked car is the basement where the Dr. Alfonso and Loida Miguel Gross Laboratory and 2 classrooms are. The basement is about half of the building length [686 square meters]. For your inquiry, the level of the parked car is the lower ground floor and it is the one occupied or home of the Medical Laboratory science but is not included in our fund raising appeal because the University will take care of it. The two floors [ground and second floors] above the lower ground floor and the gross [anatomy] lab belong to the College of Medicine. Right now, some of the rooms at the COM however are still being used temporarily by other departments to maximize its use.
Max Cadalig:  From this side of the building, you can see the basement, the lower ground floor for MedTech which is already done, lower [sic] ground floor, and the 2nd floor. The basement is different from the lower ground floor. AUP is grateful that CLSI [Clinical Laboratory Scientists International] is sponsoring the Biochem Micro Para Room room of the College of Medicine. AUP promised to shoulder the expenses for the Medtech area which it fulfilled.
On the issue of continuous and relentless fund raising efforts for our dear alma mater, I believe that as long as AUP exists, alumni and friends are its partners in accomplishing its goals and mission. Thank God that we have alumni all over the world who do not only remember their alma mater in their prayers but who voluntarily, gladly, and generously share a part of the financial resources God has given them for the University's cause on top of other commitments both in public and private institutions including that of our churches here and around the globe and thanks for being one of them!

Room              Area      Cost/sq.m.          Donation Rec/Req.

Total Amount Received/Requested: US$1,862,000.00, not including cost of construction of the lower ground floor, which is to be "shouldered" by AUP and designated for the Med Lab Sci Dept.   686 (basement) -185 (gross anatomy lab) =501 sq.m. at US$1k/sq.m. would presumably cost another US$501k.  US$1,862k + US$501k = US$2,363,000.00 total.
August 2015:  AUP's Share PhP10,000,000.00 [approx. US$238,095.24 at PhP42 = US$1]

State of the University March 2012: ... the Silang Pioneers building was opened... which cost 10.6 million pesos... with a floor area of 567.2 square meters.
Cost of construction for the Silang Pioneers building per square meter of floor space would be about PhP 18,695.00 which is equivalent to US$445 at PhP42 to US$1.
