From College of Medicine to Alumni Hall?

Blog Ed's Comment:  How would (1) naming the College of Medicine building "Alumni Hall" and (2) using it for purposes other than for the medical school alone advance our case of complying with the TCME requirements?

Multi-purpose Alumni Hall: College of Medicine, Medical Technology/Laboratory Sciences, College of Dentistry, Computer/IT departments

Blog Ed Comment:   Might this new naming "policy" not probably deserve a second look at a duly called constituency meeting aimed at amending the university bylaws? Should a board majority vote be sufficient to implement a name change?

Blog Ed comment:  To my knowledge, the largest single donation our AUP COM project has received so far came from the Crocodile Foundation - US$300k (around PhP13mil). Thus Crocodile Foundation falls under the "Founding Benefactor" category - the highest or uppermost on the list. The gift was released on condition that AUP COM matches it with an equivalent amount. Has the Crocodile Foundation been notified regarding this new naming policy as well as the rationale behind it?

Blog Ed Comment:  Back in August 2011, FG's strategy called for a Plan B.  However, the examples he cited, SU and DLSU, utilized existing structures. This we weren't told. Instead, FG wanted new constructions. The result, presently, is what has been named Alumni Hall instead of COM.  Briefly,  FG's dilemma is how to keep hopes alive while at the same time urging alumni to keep contributing until the full cost of construction has been raised.

AUP College of Medicine or School of Medical Technology?

Medical Technology/Lab Sciences Offices and Classrooms = 1434 sq.m.
College of Medicine Dean's Office and Other Offices = 35 + 63 = 98 sq.m.
Plan B: 1,532 sq.m. for PhP70 mil. [PhP 45,691.00 per sq.m.] consists of several rooms at USD 1,659,573.00 [roughly USD 1,083.27 per sq.m.]

Nos. 7 and 8 [rooms] have been designated, at least for the time being, for the College of Medicine (COM). All the rest are for Medical Technology Dept. occupancy and use. COM Dean's Office [35 sq.m.] + COM Offices [63 sq.m.] = 98 sq.m. out of total 1,532 sq.m. = 6.39%

Briefly, 6.65% of the total cost [or, 6.39% floor area in sqm of the finished structure] is for the COM US$3,9367.00 COM Dean’s Office; US$7,0765.00 COM Dept Offices
